USBF at Work

* Edvinas Minkstimas piano concert at United Nations: Over 150 people attended the USBF sponsored piano concert with highly acclaimed Lithuanian pianist Edvinas Minksitmas at the United Nations building this past Friday, November 28. Mr. Minkstimas delighted the capacity crowd by playing nine musical pieces from some of the world’s most famous composers. The concert was followed by a reception for all attendees. The concert was the inaugural event of the Baltic Arts Fund, a USBF program to promote Baltic art and culture in the United States.

* Anita OrbanOn Tuesday, November 18, USBF, a member of the Baltic Black Sea Initiative, hosted a presentation by Dr. Anita Orban, Director of Constellation Energy Institute in Budapest, Hungary. The presentation titled “Russian Energy and Foreign Policy: Beyond the Former Soviet Union,” was attended by over 30 guests and was available via webcast. USBF Board member former U.S. Ambassador Keith Smith moderated the discussion. The webcast can be seen in its entirety by clicking here.

* Planning for USBF’s 2009 U.S.-Baltic Confluence Exchange, Forum & Gala is well underway! Latvian President Valdis Zatlers has will receive the Baltic Statesmanship Award and give the keynote address. The Embassy of Poland will host a reception for gala attendees the evening before the dinner. The weekend of events will take place in Washington, DC from May 14-17.
