Hello everyone,
thank you for signing the petition against the Uganda bill, and for supporting "Eyes on Africa Foundation". We really can make a difference, if we all take part!
Today we would like to suggest joining the "LONDON AIDS MEMORIAL" group on facebook. You can find this group at
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&ref=search&gid=180686542643
or simply click on the lick below.
Some info: "Group founded on 1 December 2009 - London needs a permanent AIDS memorial where we can gather to remember the ones who succumbed, dying bravely, defiantly and with no knowledge of the battle ahead. A space for flowers, anniversaries, celebration of life, notes and memories for all days that we remember those passed, as well as people worldwide presently affected by HIV.
We owe it to them."
Let's help them! Have a great day!

Unfortunately, the Red Ribbon Army Page will no longer look the way it currently does. Facebook has made more changes to Pages, and they will be making the Pages look more like (personal) Profiles. We have no choice but to change the look of the Page as they will be automatically altered in the immediate future.
This is the message sent by Facebook Administrators:
“Pages are now more like profiles. Right now, your fans are still seeing the old version of your Page. Take advantage of this opportunity to edit your Page before it gets automatically republished, which will happen soon.”
We hope you will continue to visit the Red Ribbon Army Page after the changes are in place.
Thank you for your support.

Hello all!
Firstly – THANK YOU – we are now OVER 400,000 STRONG, and still growing!
It’s good to know there are so many people out there wanting to make a difference.
This is the first of what will be a monthly update, to let you know about events and initiatives happening locally and worldwide. If you’d like to include an event or group in a future update, please post on our wall, and we’ll be in touch!
Meantime, here’s what we’ve got this month:
===NEW RED HOT COMPILATION===
Made in the name of the AIDS charity, The Red Hot Organization, ‘Dark Was The Night’ is the latest in the long line of their excellent charity compilations, which has also included ‘Red Hot + Blue’, and ‘Red Hot And Dance’.
Two years in the making, the new CD rounds up a stellar cast of musicians, including David Byrne, Feist, Arcade Fire, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, The National and Cat Power.
Check out www.darkwasthenight.com and www.redhot.org for more info – the CD is out February 16 (Feb 17 in the US), both physically and digitally – all profits going to the Red Hot Organisation.
Make sure you get some!
PLUS: The Stud in San Francisco is holding a launch party for the album’s release – follow the link below for more info:

===PETITION TO END HIV DISCRIMINATION IN UK SCHOOLS===
The National AIDS Trust (NAT) is the UK's leading charity dedicated to transforming society's response to HIV. They have recently raised a petition to end HIV discrimination in schools.
Children with HIV have been refused places in schools just because they have HIV, and teachers with HIV have also faced discrimination. Despite the NAT repeatedly contacting the Department for Children Schools and Families about this, so far there has been no action.
If you’re UK based, please join this campaign to put an end to this terrible situation! Please follow the link below to add your name to the petition:

===MILK: THE MOVIE===
Released towards the end of 2008 in the US, ‘Milk’ has now arrived on European shores. Don’t miss this excellent re-telling of how Harvey Milk was to be elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977, becoming the first openly gay man to be voted into public office in America. His victory was not just a victory for gay rights; he forged coalitions across the political spectrum – and his election team went on to great things themselves – Cleve Jones, for example, went on to conceive the idea of the AIDS Memorial Quilt at a candlelight memorial for Milk in 1985. Never mind the awards, this is an unmissable film, regardless!

The Red Ribbon Army
We created the group 'World AIDS Day 2008: Wear A Red Ribbon On Facebook!' with the simple premise of spreading awareness of HIV/AIDS and remembering lost loved ones by switching our profile pics collectively for December 1st (World AIDS Day).
The group quickly evolved, becoming not only a hub for information on local WAD initiatives and events worldwide, but also a place for members to share their experiences of HIV/AIDS and to leave tributes for loved ones they have lost.
On December 1st, less than four weeks after creation, the group was 240,000 strong. The sea of Red Ribbons was amazing to see rippling across Facebook - THANK YOU!
We are now the RED RIBBON ARMY, numbering over 300,000. World AIDS Day 2008 has passed - but the memories and the fight continue year-round!
Please use this page to continue sharing your stories, and as a resource to find out about the fight against HIV/AIDS in your area. We ourselves will also be able to update you on any developments throughout the year.
*In the conversion, Facebook is unable to transfer photos from the group to the page, so if you uploaded pics to the group, please feel free to upload these again to the group. Wall posts a little slow in crossing over too, so again feel free to re-post.*
Let's show the global Facebook community that this is not a forgotten issue, and that those we have lost will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
